National Designathon

Event Description 

National Designathon is the ultimate student design competition of the year! This event brings together the most creative design thinkers, innovators and future leaders to tackle some of the most challenging problems in our society. Marking the end of the 2020 - 2021 season, the National Designathon invites all the winning teams from the local Designathons to compete for the national title.


Limited spots are also open by application. If you are a student that thinks differently, has experience with design, and wants to make an impact, we would love to have you attend.

What is a Designathon?

Designathons are weekend long design competitions where participants are given a selection of real-world challenges from Engineering. Participants will be given 36 hours to create a solution,  build prototypes, and present to a panel of industry professionals.

Who can attend?

All teams who have placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at a local Designathon in the 2020-2021 Designathon season, will have a secured spot at the National Designathon. 


Applications are open to all post-secondary and high school students with experience in engineering design. Acceptance will be based upon application, portfolio and other supporting material. 

Applications can be done for a team or as an individual. All team members must apply separately.

Minors (Under 18)

Challenge Catagory 

The challenges at a Designathon are given by industry partners. This designathon will have challenges from the following categories:

We partner with global organizations to provide innovative learning opportunities for students
