What is a Designathon?

Designathons are competitions envisioned for post-secondary students to tackle real-world challenges in mechanical and industrial design. Participants generate solutions, build prototypes, and present to industry professionals - all in the course of 36 hours. Founded in 2017, Designathons have rapidly spread across Ontario universities and attract employers looking for passionate young innovators.
A Designathon is best described as an invention marathon. It is a platform for students to learn and showcase their skills by tackling real-world design problems.

NDL aims to inspire students by connecting academia to real-world design challenges, generated from companies and partners solving the big issues in society. We partner with various institutions make Designathons available and accessible to students at all skill/age levels.
